<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";"><span style="color: #eeeeee;"><span style="font-size: large;">While President
Obama, every “new” Detroit Lions fan, and Cowboys hater is crying over spilled
milk…I am in the process of working on my “Why You Love To Hate The Dallas Cowboys”
blog post but I had to make sure I let my readers know that a report has come
out that says the Cowboys submitted 10 questionable officiating decisions to
the league and the NFL has admitted the officials failed to flag the Lions
SEVEN TIMES! SEVEN TIMES! <o:p></o:p></span></span></span></div>
<span style="color: #eeeeee; font-size: large;">

<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 8pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";"><span style="color: #eeeeee; font-size: large;">Texas based Fort Worth Telegram reporter,
Clarence Williams Jr., only provided two specific examples. The first, a missed
hands to the face call that knocked OL Jeremy Parnell’s helmet off and, a far
more relevant one had the game not ended in Dallas’ favor….a missed defensive
holding committed by Lions safety James Ihedgho (did I spell that right?) on Dallas
TE Jason Witten on 3rd & 8 with 6:44 remaining in the 4th quarter. This
play took place right before the 4th & 6 play where the NFL told the Lions
they missed a offensive hold against a Cowboys OL on Detroit’s tackle Ndamukong
Suh. </span></span></div>

<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";"><span style="color: #eeeeee;"><span style="font-size: large;">On the third
down play, Witten ran the route from the left slot, but had his arm
hooked by Ihedigbo. After the incompletion, Witten can be seen throwing
his arms up, appealing to the back judge for the call. <o:p></o:p></span></span></span></div>
<span style="color: #eeeeee; font-size: large;">
</span><br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 8pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";"><span style="color: #eeeeee;"><span style="font-size: large;">Sooooooooooooooo
what sayeth the haters now? I’ve had a pretty unbiased approach to this
situation if I do say so myself. I’ve repeatedly explained to folks that if you
watched that entire game you couldn’t walk away thinking that one call is what lost
if for Detroit. The Dallas Cowboys won that game by (amongst other things done
well) holding the Lions to only three points in the 2nd half and by forcing two
Matthew Stafford fumbles on the Lions final drive. There were questionable
calls that went against the Cowboys as well..albeit not near the end of the
game but does that really matter (that’s for you Walt P). The offensive pass interference
call on Terrence Williams in the 2nd quarter was ridiculous to say the least.
Yes, Dallas scored on the next play, but what if they hadn’t? Doesn’t that hold
the same weight as the non-pass interference call? My only issue with the
call/non- call is that they picked the flag up and did not give the audience an
explanation. That looks very suspect but hey what can you do? I’m just glad we
were on the winning end of that call because honestly I’d probably feel the
same way Lions fans are feeling 3 days later (and probably well into infinity).
But…..the Cowboys won and they are moving on. They have bigger fish to fry in
Greenbay this weekend…or should I say bigger lions to fry? I tried lol<o:p></o:p></span></span></span></div>
<span style="color: #eeeeee; font-size: large;">

<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 8pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";"><span style="color: #eeeeee;"><span style="font-size: large;">It’s worth noting
that it is common practice for teams to submit questionably officiated plays to
the league after each game and for a follow-up conversations to take place
early the next week. I’ll wait for the list for the Lions to be leaked in
5,4,3,2…….<o:p></o:p></span></span></span></div>

That is my storyline when I begin to debate rather the Cowboys will win on
Thanksgiving Day. The sole win was a 2 point victory to backup QB Kyle Orton.
That loss was a big loss because it knocked the Cowboys out of playoff
contention, BUT. It’s still just one win. It seems the Cowboys scout team have
the Eagles figured out. </span><span style="color: #f2f2f2; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12pt; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-style-textfill-fill-alpha: 100.0%; mso-style-textfill-fill-color: #F2F2F2; mso-style-textfill-fill-themecolor: background1; mso-themecolor: background1; mso-themeshade: 242;"><o:p></o:p></span></div>

same teams that faced off last December. The Eagles have no Desean Jackson, no
Nick Foles (out with injury), Mark Sanchez will get the start, and they’ve
added special teams firecracker Darren Sproles. The Cowboys…well the running
game is beyond better than then, Tony Romo is healthy, the OL is giving him
time to sit in the pocket and think about what he’s having for dinner, and the
most shocking of all…the defense is playing waaaaay beyond expectations. Ranked
17th compared to dead last when the season ended last year.</span><span style="color: #f2f2f2; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12pt; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-style-textfill-fill-alpha: 100.0%; mso-style-textfill-fill-color: #F2F2F2; mso-style-textfill-fill-themecolor: background1; mso-themecolor: background1; mso-themeshade: 242;"><o:p></o:p></span></div>

Run the ball well.
And give our defense less time on the field by keeping the up-tempo Eagles
offense off the field. When the Cowboys defense is on the field for longer than
30 minutes in a game the Cowboys lose. The only exception was Sunday versus the
Giants whose time of possession was greater than The Cowboys at 45 minutes but
thanks to great play by Romo down the stretch they pulled it off. The Cowboys
defense was on the field for a season-high 74 plays Sunday night and it showed
as they looked gassed near the end. The Eagles average 72.7 plays a game. The
Cowboys defense has only been on the field for an average of 60.5 plays per
game.</span><span lang="EN" style="color: #f2f2f2; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12pt; mso-ansi-language: EN; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-style-textfill-fill-alpha: 100.0%; mso-style-textfill-fill-color: #F2F2F2; mso-style-textfill-fill-themecolor: background1; mso-themecolor: background1; mso-themeshade: 242;"><o:p></o:p></span></div>

attempt defense, while the Cowboys are #2 in passing yards per attempt
offense. The Eagles are -8 in turnovers with 27 turnovers and 19 takeaways. The
Cowboys are -1 with 19 turnovers and 18 takeaways. I would be doing you an
injustice if I didn’t mentioned that Mark Sanchez has turned the ball over this
year 8 times in his 4 starts. Romo…6 times in 10 starts. DeMarcco Murray is
averaging about 5 yards per carry… the Eagles are giving up an average of 3.9
yards per rushing attempt. Houston averages 3.9 given up per rushing attempt
and Seattle averages 3.5 rushing yards given up per attempt. How did they do
against the Cowboys?</span><span style="color: #f2f2f2; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12pt; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-style-textfill-fill-alpha: 100.0%; mso-style-textfill-fill-color: #F2F2F2; mso-style-textfill-fill-themecolor: background1; mso-themecolor: background1; mso-themeshade: 242;"><o:p></o:p></span></div>

whose house it is. Represent the Star and send the Eagles home with their wings
tucked between their legs. </span><span style="color: #f2f2f2; font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12pt; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-style-textfill-fill-alpha: 100.0%; mso-style-textfill-fill-color: #F2F2F2; mso-style-textfill-fill-themecolor: background1; mso-themecolor: background1; mso-themeshade: 242;"><o:p></o:p></span></div>

Call him Derrick "The Glass" Rose!<br />
<br />
If I turn on my TV and here that Derrick Rose has another injury...I'm going to...well I don't know what I'm going to do but I'm not even a Bulls fan and I'm frustrated! So I can only imagine how Bulls fans are feeling today. Ugh! <br />
<br />
Rose, who has not started and finished two consecutive games this season, left the game Tuesday night versus the Denver Nuggets with an injury after playing a full 10 minutes. Rose was 1-for-4 from the field for two points in 10 minutes, but was not aggressive when he was on the floor. <br />
<br />
The Bulls listed the injury as left hamstring tightness, but Rose said after the game his hamstring was fine and he did not have a setback. He was "just trying to be smart" given his recent injury history.<br />
<br />
Rose just returned to the floor this Monday night versus the Utah Jazz after missing the previous four games due to the same injury. He scored 18 points in 25 minutes. <br />
<br />
Rose has missed eight games already this season, four others because of sprained ankles.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Sportsgrid.com writer Tim Reynolds posted this pic on twitter delineating every bump, bruise and tear Rose has had as a pro.<br />
<br />
At this rate you can expect me to write more of the same post several times this year.<br />

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The NBA is expanding the All-Star ballot to include all players, and pushing back the start of voting so fans can really ponder their decisions</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"> Voting for the All-Star game which will be held Feb. 15 game in New York, will begin Dec. 11 and conclude at the end of the day Jan. 19 </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"> The ballot on NBA.com will for the first time feature every player in the league. It use to only included 60 players per conference who had been selected by a media panel. I think this gives underrated players a chance to shine instead of the same players being considered every year!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"> Fans will continue to vote as usual for three frontcourt players and two guards to start for each conference. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"> </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"> President of basketball operations Rod Thorn said Thursday "Our choice to include all NBA players is both a tribute to their skills and achievements, and another way to engage our fans in the full experience of NBA All-Star by giving them every option." </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"> I agree. </span><br />

smoking marijuana and here this woman beating scumbag is with a 2 game suspension.
*I digress*).</span></span></span><a name='more'></a><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="color: #eeeeee;"><o:p></o:p></span></span><br />

game suspension and support from the Ravens organization back in March. The
incident that had Ravens head coach John Harbaugh singing praises to the
running back: “</span></span><span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">He will be
part of our team. He's a person of character. The thing that's really important
is to be able to support the person without condoning the action. He makes
a mistake. There's no justifying what happened. When you drink too much in
public, those kind of things happen."</span> That support came
on the heels of Ray Rice and his wife meeting with the team and league to tell
the story (a watered-down version clearly) and even tho earlier video of Rice
dragging Palmer from the elevator had been shown repeatedly there was a “we don’t
know what happened in the elevator “reasonable doubt” defense being taken…and
it was accepted. BUT now the speculation can cease…..we now have with clear evidence
of what happened and seeing Rice deliver the blow puts an end to that rhetoric.

<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 8pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";"><span style="color: #eeeeee; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">All the
support the Baltimore Ravens gave Ray Rice this offseason as he dealt with his
domestic violence incident evaporated after </span><a data-rapid_p="12" href="http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdown-corner/tmz-releases-footage-of-ray-rice-punching-wife-124132772.html"><span style="color: #eeeeee; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">TMZ released video </span></a><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="color: #eeeeee;">of the running back knocking out his
wife. That's how powerful the video is. There was no way they could keep Rice
around. I guess it was one thing to see video of Rice dragging his then fiancé out
of the elevator unconscious and another to actual see how she got to that unconscious
state (but seriously…what did they think happened?) That brings me to my “too
late”: conclusion. The Baltimore Ravens were more concerned with football and
they hoped to sweep this incident under the rug once the NFL handed down the 2
game suspension. They took Ray at his word and spun the story into a “everybody
makes mistakes” PR campaign. However, you can’t spin this video and now they (the
team and the NFL) have to save face because their initial response was VERY
disappointing. <o:p></o:p></span></span></span></div>
<span style="color: #eeeeee; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">
</span><br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 8pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="color: #eeeeee;">The Baltimore
Ravens terminated running back Ray Rice's contract today and minutes later, NFL
commissioner Roger Goodell (ugh!) announced that, based on the latest video
evidence now available, Rice is suspended indefinitely from playing in the
league.<o:p></o:p></span></span></span></div>
<span style="color: #eeeeee; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">
</span><br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 8pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="color: #eeeeee;">Clearly
public pressure got to the team. The outrage over Rice was fierce after the
video was released. Maybe the Ravens didn't realize how ugly the incident was,
although I doubt it considering everyone knew for many months that Rice knocked
out his then-fiancée, and it's tough to think the team didn't realize that a
NFL running back knocking out a woman was a disgusting act before seeing the
video of it.<o:p></o:p></span></span></span></div>
<span style="color: #eeeeee; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">
</span><br />
<span lang="EN" style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 11pt; mso-ansi-language: EN;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="color: #eeeeee;">During initial reports of the impending Rice suspension,
Harbaugh addressed the matter at training camp:<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>"I stand behind Ray (Rice) – he's a heck of a guy. He's done
everything right since. He makes a mistake; he's going to have to pay a
consequence."<o:p></o:p></span></span></span><br />
<span style="color: #eeeeee; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">
</span><br />
<span lang="EN" style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 11pt; mso-ansi-language: EN;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="color: #eeeeee;">And that consequence may include NEVER playing in the NFL
again.<o:p></o:p></span></span></span><br />

<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">A woman’s insight on sports is not always taken seriously and rightfully
so (for the most part). There are women out here, like me, who genuinely love
the game of football or sports in general and can hold an in depth convo about
it with any guy. And theeen there are the women who are just acting like they
are into the game because they are trying to impress a guy. I’ve decided to
make my picks for the Divisional rounds using my “girl that really doesn’t like
football but will go to the watch party because there are going to be guys
there” perspective.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">

<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">Ok so I
really don’t like Brady’s attitude sometime. He seems like he’d be more of a
diva than me. Hogging the bathroom and taking up my space in the closet. Ugh! Any
man like that CANNOT be a good football right? However, ya’ll know I like my
men rough around the edges and that Brady dude has 2 babies out of wedlock by 2
different women...that tells me he likes to take risk! I like that. So I’m
kinda leaning toward him. BUT that other dude...Eli’s brother. Yea he just seems
so cool out there. Like he won’t let anything rattle him and i need that in my
life because my ex-boyfriend is cray cray and I need a change! Plus I like the
way he runs on the field real slow, kinda like a fast walk with short steps. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>And his little head is<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>so adorable lol. The Broncos uniforms are
orange which is my favorite color and that guy Champ Bailey looks like my
brother. Yea I’ve made up my mind. I’m going with the Broncos.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

everytime I see Kapernickle play I start hummmming and thinking things I have
no business thinking! Who can focus on tackling when you are looking at all of that in the picture to your left?!! As I mentioned before I like my
men rough around the edges but Kapernickle is rough around the edges, on the
inside, in the middle, at the corners..all that. I need at least 2 more weeks
of him in my life and if they lose then there won’t be any more coverage on him
and I will have to resort to Googling his name just to see his face! I know Seattle
is the better team (that’s what my boss says..he’s a huge fan) but they don’t
really have any eye candy on their team. I mean the cuter guys usually win
these things right? I don’t know. I do like dreads and it seems like half the Seahawks
have dreads in their head. Takes me back to my roots! Plus that Lynch guy eats
Skittles which is my favorite snack. I’m really torn on this one. Hmmmm.....well,
since I don’t even know what a<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>49er
is.....I’ll roll with the birds. The Seahawks.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">The goal is clear: Keeping Manning off the field. The Chargers
are the only team to hold Peyton's Broncos to under 400 yards -- and they did
it twice this season.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">The Denver Broncos and San Diego Chargers split their
series this season. As a matter of fact, the only three teams the Broncos lost
to this season are the three teams left in the AFC playoffs—the Chargers,
Indianapolis Colts and New England Patriots! *the plot thickens* </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;"><o:p></o:p></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">In the Chargers' Week 15 win over the Broncos, San
Diego's defense limited Manning to seven yards per attempt and picked him off
once, but it was their offense—led by rookie receiver Keenan Allen (2 TD’s) and
running back Ryan Mathews (127 yards and a TD)—that made the biggest
difference. However, Mathews may not be available for this one.<o:p></o:p></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">Look for Manning to shake the playoff ghost that haunts
him of not getting it done in the post season. He has too many weapons for the
Chargers defense to match up with, and he's not going to lose to a team that
handed him his last loss.<o:p></o:p></span><br />

<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">It’s clear, based on the rankings above that this will
not be a offensive game. With the exception of the run game, both these teams
fall no better than 24th on the offensive side of the ball. So that means one
thing…we will get a dose of a 10-9 score game. Which was the score when they
met in Week 10.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">That Panthers victory at San Francisco featured the
fewest combined yards (401) of any NFL game this season and one of just eight
games that had only one touchdown scored between the two teams. The primary
difference between then and now is that 49ers have Michael Crabtree, Vernon
Davis and Aldon Smith at full capacity. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">This is probably the most evenly matched match up of the
weekend.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">The 49ers and Panthers will have to rely upon their
defenses. For San Francisco, it's a great front seven with one of the best
linebacker corps in the league and in Carolina, it's the best young linebacker
in the NFL (Luke Kuechly) with a great defensive line in front of him. <o:p></o:p></span><br />
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">Both defenses are going to have their hands full with
both 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick and Panthers QB Cam Newton as they can win on
the ground and through the air. This season, Newton has been the better player,
but Kaepernick has the better surrounding cast.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">The 49ers haven't lost with Michael Crabtree on the field

face the New England Patriots (12-4) for what feels like the umpteenth time in
the past 10 years. Only this time, instead of Manning it's Luck who will be
trying to knock Patriots quarterback Tom Brady out of the playoffs at home.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">Both Luck and Brady are missing a lot of their supporting
talent this weekend, with Luck without receiver Reggie Wayne and Brady without Wes
Welker, and both his prime tight ends Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">Long story short, Luck can't afford to turn the ball over
three times in New England. The Pats have forced 170 turnovers over the past
five years, the most in the NFL. The last thing the Colts want to do is give Tom
Brady short fields -- or get behind 38-10.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">Last week, the Colts gave up <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>44 points. What if the Chiefs hadn't lost Jamal
Charles, Brandon Flowers, Don Avery..and more? This would be a different write
up. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Indy's defense must stop the run, as
the Pats have run the football 77 times over their past two games.
Unfortunately, this isn't the Colts strength, as evidenced above by their No.
26 ranking in run defense. Oh, well. …better Luck next year </span><span style="font-family: Wingdings; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%; mso-ascii-font-family: Arial; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial; mso-char-type: symbol; mso-hansi-font-family: Arial; mso-symbol-font-family: Wingdings;"><span style="mso-char-type: symbol; mso-symbol-font-family: Wingdings;">J</span></span><span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;"><o:p></o:p></span><br />

for the longest active streak (tied with the Saints!).<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">However, this game won’t be like the Week 13 game. This
game will be more balanced and a game of strength versus strength.. The
Seahawks “Legion of Boom” versus the Saints explosive offensive attack.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">Where the Seahawks win this game, however, is by rattling
Saints quarterback Drew Brees as they did in their last matchup, when they
racked up six QB hits and a sack.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">The Seahawks have allowed 13 points per game at home this
season, the best in the NFL. That includes just seven points from the Saints in
Week 13. Can New Orleans do better this time around? I say YES! This could be
the upset of the week. I wouldn’t be surprised. However, the Seahawks still have
more talent and depth than the New Orleans Saints. So while it will be a closer
game, Seattle still wins. (and I will probably make sure all my Saints fan friends know about it via Facebook :-) )</span></div>

<br />

<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman;">
</span><span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">Dallas
Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant described his passion as "all
positive" after his sidleine confrontations with Romo and Witten during
Sunday's 31-30 loss to the Detroit Lions.<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Times New Roman;">
</span><span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">Bryant
offered no apologies, saying his intense passion is critical to giving the
Cowboys the best chance to win. He said he isn't concerned if the sideline
outbursts look bad to outsiders. And I agree.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: Times New Roman;">
</span><span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">Maybe some</span>
people would prefer he just sits on the bench and stews or stands on the
sideline in silence. Then again, Tom Brady and Peyton Manning don't act that
way when they think their team is in the process of blowing a game they should
win. So what’s the big deal? I’ll leave you to speculate on that one..I’ll keep
my opinion on that to myself. Whatever the reason, pictures and, highlights and
instant reactions on what Dez did on the sidelines yesterday will dominate
media and fan conversation over the next few days.<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">One sideline
scene the cameras COINCIDENTLY didn't catch came after one of the
Bryant-screams-at-Romo sessions. The Cowboys took the field and scored on three
plays, the big one a 60-yard touchdown to Terrance Williams. Bryant wasn't
targeted once on the series. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">And guess
what he did…he went and gave Romo a hug. But you won’t hear much about that.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">Dez has
called it his “passion” not his “anger” that he was expressing on the
sidelines. And I accept that explanation. Hell he is the only one I’ve seen
show some passion on the offensive side of the ball. Even the coaches looked
monotone at times when they should be ripping someone a new one. I’m speaking
about the offensive group..I know our defense has passion (they may be lacking
in other areas but passion is not one). <o:p></o:p></span><a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">"[If
you] get the opportunity to put our foot on their throats, just keep doing
it," he said. "It doesn't matter if there was 30 seconds left in the
game. If they are going to give us an opportunity then we needed to take
it." Basically....why settle for conservative play calling just because your up 10 points in the 4th quarter? Pounce!</span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">He had 6
targets and on TWO of those he scored a TOUCHDOWN.…there was a lot of one on
one coverage on him and the ball just never came..<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<a href="http://l1.yimg.com/bt/api/res/1.2/UCRHLR890s1Zc972DHiN3Q--/YXBwaWQ9eW5ld3M7Zmk9ZmlsbDtoPTMwMDtweW9mZj0yNTtxPTc1O3c9MzAw/http://media.zenfs.com/en-US/video/video.nflhighlights.com/04e89af68182a51e30a9394864c1f1d0" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://l1.yimg.com/bt/api/res/1.2/UCRHLR890s1Zc972DHiN3Q--/YXBwaWQ9eW5ld3M7Zmk9ZmlsbDtoPTMwMDtweW9mZj0yNTtxPTc1O3c9MzAw/http://media.zenfs.com/en-US/video/video.nflhighlights.com/04e89af68182a51e30a9394864c1f1d0" /></a><br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">Dez is no TO but
I hope he has the career that TO had statistically and if so the cowboys could
win a title if the QB takes care of the ball and he gets line protection and
the cowboys get some better coaching because that loss was a coaching loss.
Period. The strategic decisions were horrible. You use your weapons. You plan
around your best players. And Dez Bryant is one of them. You see that stat line in the picture over there ---> Unfortunately,
defenses aren’t the ones stopping him. Leave it to the Cowboys.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">As a member
of Cowboys Nation, It is hard work losing the way the Cowboys often lose. It’s
nearly impossible to turn that much gold into lead. But they always find a way.
Think about it…how many nail bitters have gone ended in the Cowboys favor?
Never a perfect ending.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">The Cowboys
have significantly deeper problems. Like the worst pass defense in the NFL and
a defensive line that has five sacks in the last four games. BUT I won’t put
this L on the defense. They set the offense up to succeed too many times.
Defense had 4 takeaways…offense scored 3…THREE points off of those takeaways.
Sad. Pathetic. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">Maybe the
media will get around to this before Sunday’s game. After they’re done beating
up on Dez Bryant. And acting like this is somehow dramatically different from when
Tom Brady’s does it.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";"><span style="color: #eeeeee;">Ok I don’t
really know what was said…Only the people involved know exactly what Bryant was
screaming about (and I felt for the WR coach..he looked like he wanted to get
away). Anyway.. I’m going to say that the conversation went something like this
“Man, the defense is setting us up to win and we can’t move the ball! They
aren’t even respecting my craft…they got one dude on me but ya’ll won’t throw
me the ball. It just makes sense (starts using his hands) they can’t hold me!
did you not see what happened when I got the ball? I want to win….we aren’t
gonna win with these calls ya’ll calling. We have like 60 rushing yards! That’s
crazy! They don’t trust YOU…and it’s affecting me. ” Romo whispers “I’m not
making the calls” as Dez walks away…Dez storms back madder than before..”Call a
m’fin audible then.” </span></span></div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">Well I’m not
really rooting for Alabama more than I am rooting against Texas A&M. Well technically,
I’m not rooting against A&M, I’m rooting against Johnny Manziel Yea! That
sounds better. I not going for Alabama…I just don’t want Johnny to win. My good
ole Aggie friends will say that I am “hating” but I’m really not. . I can’t
cheer for Alabama because as a Texan that could be treason lol. BUT thanks to
the on- and off-field antics by Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel, I
just might find myself saying "Roll Tide." #Ewww </span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">This is what
I call the “Lebron Effect”. Remember how so many people (not me) hated Lebron
after he took his talents to South Beach?<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>That was not really for what he did, but for HOW he did it. He was seen
as arrogant, selfish, “cocky”, and all the other synonyms in that cluster. He
was the most hated person in sports just for how people perceived his attitude because
most people want to see pride lose to humility. Which is why so many people
were cheering for the Dallas Mavericks in 2011. Not because they liked them but
because they disliked the Heat. Same thought process goes for my attitude
towards Manziel. <span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">Everything he has done and said since the Heisman Trophy has affirmed Manziel's belief that he cannot be touched, that he is bigger than the university he represents, that he is even above NCAA rules.<o:p></o:p></span> I’m not saying Alabama is a humble bunch but I’m paying
attention to what’s in the news and it’s not them taunting their opponent
mocking something just got a get out of jail free card for. <span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">After everything Manziel has gone through the last few weeks –– you'd think maybe just a smidge of humility might have been in order.<o:p></o:p></span><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"></span>I’m also not saying I think a loss to Alabama
tomorrow will humble old Johnny Football. It may bring him down a notch. Down
to the notch that says you aren’t guaranteed anything. Your attitude determines
your altitude. You better ask T.O and Ochocinco. <o:p></o:p></span><br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://a.espncdn.com/photo/2010/0709/nba_g_bosh_wade_james_b1_600.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="http://a.espncdn.com/photo/2010/0709/nba_g_bosh_wade_james_b1_600.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";"><span style="color: #eeeeee;">That is my million
dollar question. LeBron is a young, fun, loving, ‘kid at heart” kind of guy who
if people really knew the real him and not the him the media has built…it would
be hard to hate such a person. He’s even humble..yes I said humble! I can say
that because I had the luxury of hanging out with LeBron at one of his birthday
parties and he was everything I stated above and more. One thing is for sure
tho ..before LeBron James even steps on the floor to play Game 7 tonight it's
clear that he has already lost. More specifically, he has lost the right to
lose.</span></span></div>
<span style="color: #eeeeee;"><a name='more'></a><o:p></o:p></span><br />
<span style="color: #eeeeee;">
</span><br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";"><span style="color: #eeeeee;"><strong><span style="font-size: large;">The Story:</span></strong> <o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<span style="color: #eeeeee;">
</span><br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";"><span style="color: #eeeeee;">James has
been an NBA CHAMPION, an NBA Finals MVP, a four-time NBA MVP (only a few have
won the award four times, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Jordan, Wilt Chamberlain, and Bill
Russell), an NBA scoring champion, the NBA Rookie of the Year, and an Olympic
gold medalist. Selected to nine NBA All-Star teams, nine All-NBA teams, and
five All-Defensive teams, the Cavaliers' all-time leading scorer and will go
down as the best player to ever wear a Miami Heat uniform. On top of all that,
last year James joined Michael Jordan as the only players to win an NBA MVP
award, NBA championship, and Olympic gold medal in the same year. Think about
the short list of players who have ever, in basketball history, been both an
NBA champion and inarguably the best player in the world, all before the age of
30. (Only two names come to mind). LeBron is on that list.<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<span style="color: #eeeeee;">
</span><br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";"><span style="color: #eeeeee;">With all that
I just named, for most that would place them at the top of the accomplished,
respected, liked, athletes of our time. But it doesn’t. Instead it puts him on
the “most polarizing athlete” list. Crazy!<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<span style="color: #eeeeee;">
</span><br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";"><span style="color: #eeeeee;">Everything in
his repertoire includes the words that greats like Charles Barkley, Patrick
Ewing, John Stockton, Reggie Miller, and Elgin Baylor wpuld love to have
associated with their names but none of them got a ring/ Elgin Baylor played in
EIGHT, yes EIGHT, NBA Finals and never won it. Yet nothing LeBron does is ever
good enough. Will it ever be?! <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<span style="color: #eeeeee;">

ames has
been under more severe public pressure than any player in the game since he
made his life more difficult by turning <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>the 2010 free agency into reality television
with “The Decision” <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>and then simply
stating his desire to win not 1, not 2, not 3 etc. The public (the media) took
that statement as being bragalicious and arrogant but what player doesn’t go to
a team wanting to win multiple championships? He wasn’t guaranteeing them, just
simply saying that’s what he hopes happens. BUT again....they hate. <o:p></o:p></span><br />
<span style="color: #eeeeee;">
</span><br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";"><span style="color: #eeeeee;">After “The
Decision” all his haters kept saying that they were hard on him because he didn’t
have a ring. Yet, nothing has changed since he won a ring LOL! He has done that
and they still won’t let up. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Winning the
NBA Finals last year didn't liberate James in the way that a championship
relieved the burden on Dirk Nowitzk. Why not?! All the championship last year
did for James was to trend him in the right direction. If he were to finish his
career with a single NBA title, then he would be one of the most disappointing
stars in league history. <o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<span style="color: #eeeeee;">
</span><br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span style="color: #eeeeee;"><span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";"><o:p> </o:p></span><span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">No one ever
sides with LeBron, even when he plays well if they lose. It’s his fault
regardless. Neither Dwyane Wade (14.2 points in the Finals) or Chris Bosh
(12.3) has provided the kind of A-list support that James is accustomed to
receiving from them. Now he needs to win this game without certainty that his
teammates will come up big for him. When Duncan was at his peak, the Spurs were
never able to reach the NBA Finals in back-to-back years. They won in 1999, and
then in 2003, '05 and '07. It was as if they inhaled one year to win, exhaled
the next year to recover, which in turn allowed them to climb back on top. And
in all that time they never faced the endless controversies that have defined
James over the last three years.<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">LeBron has
taken his team to three consecutive NBA Finals, and somehow people tend to
forget that. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">But if the
Heat lose this will go down as a loss for LeBron, not the Heat. Because when
you're LeBron James, every loss is on you in some way. If the Heat lose these
Finals, no matter how James plays, the media will not treat him kindly. He'll
be 1-3 overall in his NBA Finals apperances. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">I don’t<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>think LeBron can ever win enough to satisfy
his haters. That’s reality. When James uttered the phrase “taking my talents to
South Beach,” it changed everything and sealed his fate as one of, if not the
most, hated athletes in the world. I think it’s undeserving…because he didn’t ask
to be this good…he just is and some people hate that! <o:p></o:p></span></div>

and expect to win another game in this series. Manu Ginobili. Well… he hasn’t
played well for weeks now and was out of control with the ball in Game 2. In
Game 2, the Spurs' big three (which is really a big 2 and ¾) shot 10-of-33 from
the field. This means that it’s going to take another boost from their
supporting cast to beat the Heat 3 more times. Hopefully this boost won’t be squandered
as it was in Game 2. Danny Green had an amazing game…that went to waste. <span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">"We have
three at home, so we're excited about that," Spurs Tim

he’s the second best player on the team (or as close as possible to it) and Lebron
needs to play like the MVP. Not saying that he has played poorly, but he
usually exerts his will on his opponents and that hasn't been happening.I hate to put this on Lebron..but his status as MVP and his salary says I have to. <span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">In the two games against San
Antonio, he's averaging 17.5. That's not very Lebronish.<span style="display: none; mso-hide: all;">me-time games and a Thanksgiving duel with the Raiders assures the nation
we'll see plenty of the Cowboys next season. The opener against the Giants is a

decide if Dallas is playoff material, with stretch games against the Bears,
Packers, Redskins and Eagles. </span></span><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Credit</span>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";"><span style="color: #eeeeee;">For
the third straight year, LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and the Miami Heat have made
their way to the NBA Finals. And for the second time out of those three trips they are
facing a team from TEXAS. The (My) Dallas Mavericks took the Heat down in 6
games to go on to win the teams first championship in 2011 (only to be completely
blown up by Mark Cuban and a failure ever since) and now they face a Spurs’
team who are models of consistency and fundamentals for one of the NBA’s most
clean cut organiztions.<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<span style="color: #eeeeee;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">For the first time since 2007, it’s the San
Antonio Spurs representing the Western Conference in the championship round,
with the same BIG THREE that won a title six years ago and heard plenty of
whispers since then that they were too old to do it again.<o:p></o:p></span></span><br />
<span style="color: #eeeeee;"></span><br />
<span style="color: #eeeeee;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">But
guess what! They are still winning. Not are they winning, but they are about to
break the hearts of a would-be attempt at greatness. They did it to the Los
Angeles Lakers in the mid-2000s, and they did it to the Phoenix Suns (all because
Steve Nash broke his nose)….and they did it to James in the Finals in 2007,
when he was with the Cleveland Cavaliers.<o:p></o:p></span></span><br />
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";"><strong><span style="color: #f1c232;">The
BIG THREE THEORY:<o:p></o:p></span></strong></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";"><span style="color: #eeeeee;">The
Spurs are led by Tim Duncan (37), Tony Parker (31) and Manu Ginobli (35). The
Heat are led by the best player in the NBA, LeBron James (28), and his two
high-priced sidekicks, Dwayne Wade (31) and Chris Bosh (29).<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<span style="color: #eeeeee;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">Popovich
won the rights to Duncan in the 1997 lottery, and he discovered Ginobili with
the No. 57 pick in 1999 and Parker at No. 28 two years later. On the other hand,
viewed as a forgery on the traditional means of team-building, Pat Riley, saved
up his money and went and got LeBron James and Chris Bosh to join Dwyane Wade
in Miami as free agents. The built team versus the “bought” team.<o:p></o:p></span></span><br />
<span style="color: #eeeeee;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">The
Big Threes of the Heat and Spurs are separated by age and culture. Miami's
three are peaking, while San Antonio's, according to some, are hanging on. But
if these Finals turn out to be memorable, it will happen because the two trios are
so evenly matched. For ever advantage that the Heat has…the Spurs has one. But
something will have to give. Only one team can win<o:p></o:p></span></span><br />
<span style="color: #eeeeee;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">The
outcome of these NBA Finals will give me waaaaay more to blog about if the Heat
lose because LeBron and the Heat remain so much more fascinating in failure
than with a championship. But if the Heat win they will have reached the
back-to-back feat by knocking off the toughest foe possible.<o:p></o:p></span></span><br />
<span style="color: #eeeeee;">
</span><br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">

this: a second consecutive NBA championship, a third consecutive visit to the
NBA Finals, a fourth MVP trophy. His leap into an altitude inhabited only by
players like Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Wilt Chamberlain and, of course,
Michael Jordan.<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<span style="color: #eeeeee;">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">And
all King’ James has to do is beat the San Antonio Spurs.<o:p></o:p></span></span><br />

<span style="font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif'; font-size: 12pt;"><span style="color: #eeeeee;">Finally, we get to see the story of Jackie Robinson in a motion picture as "42" is released in theaters today. I am going to go see the movie and you should too (don't waste your time going to see Scary Movie 5 instead!). I hope the directors give the story the life that it needs. By displaying his life inside AND outside of baseball because It is no exaggeration to say Jackie Robinson made his mark on history. And he did it the way Gandhi did, and the way Martin Luther King would — by simply being better than the people who hated him. <o:p></o:p></span></span></div>

(the day he broke baseball’s color barrier.) Players, managers, coaches and umpires will wear No. 42…. but I wonder if they all really know and understand the significance and history of where that moment began or if they are just doing what is required of them from the league. That prompted me to dig through some boxes and find a program and book I had gotten when I visited the Negro League Baseball Museum in Kansas City Missouri…..and I decided to provide you all with some history on how Jackie Robinson found his way from the Negro Leagues to the MLB. </span><br />

<span style="font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif'; font-size: 12pt;"><span style="color: #eeeeee;">Black history in the MLB has been filled with many successes and a struggle for equity. The resistant wall of the 19th century separated the races in virtually all areas of American society, but there have been a number of rather remarkable parallels in the maturation of baseball for both races.<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span style="color: #eeeeee;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span style="font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif'; font-size: 12pt;"><span style="color: #eeeeee;">African-Americans began to play baseball in the late 1800s on military teams, college teams, and company teams. They eventually found their way to professional teams with white players. Moses Walker and Bud Fowler were among the first to participate. However, racism and Jim Crow laws would force them from these teams by 1900. Major league baseball came close to integration in 1902, when legendary Baltimore Oriole manager John J. McGraw signed Charlie Grant. Grant had a light complexion, straight hair, and high cheekbones, but he was banned from the major leagues before the start of the season when Charlie Comiskey, Chicago White Sox owner, discovered that Grant was black. Denied the chance to play major league baseball, African-American players set out to form their own teams and traveled around the country to play anyone who would challenge them. <br /><br />In 1920, an organized league structure was formed under the guidance of Andrew “Rube” Foster. Foster and a few other Midwestern team owners joined to form the Negro National League. Soon, rival leagues formed in Eastern and Southern states, bringing the thrills and innovative play of black baseball to urban cities and rural country sides in the U.S., Canada, and Latin America. The Leagues displayed a high level of professional skill and became the backdrop for economic progress and growth in many black communities. With word spreading about all the talent in the Negro Leagues…the white teams came a knocking. <br /><br />In 1945, Major League Baseball’s Brooklyn Dodgers recruited Jackie Robinson from the Kansas City Monarchs. Robinson became the first African-American in the modern era to play on a Major League roster. <o:p></o:p></span></span></div>

Many superstars graced the playing field. James "Cool Papa" Bell, Josh Gibson, and Leroy "Satchel” Paige, to mention a few. Other former Negro League players who went on to star in the major leagues include Willie Mays, Henry Aaron, Roy Campanella, Ernie Banks, Junior Gilliam, Don Newcombe, and Joe Black.<br /><br />While this historic event was a key moment in baseball and civil rights history, it prompted the decline of the Negro Leagues. The promotion of Jackie Robinson to the Brooklyn Dodgers not only opened the doors for other African-American players, it also signaled the end of the Negro Leagues. The best black players were now being recruited for the Major Leagues, and black fans followed. <o:p></o:p></span></span></div>

<a href="http://blog.johnloomis.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/20110613_Ayanbadejo_327.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" mta="true" src="http://blog.johnloomis.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/20110613_Ayanbadejo_327.jpg" width="254" /></a></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif'; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">Another day…another gay rights story. Listen, I am all for doing what you want in your own time but<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I don’t care to hear or know about it while I’m trying to enjoy a nice day Sportscenter…AND I don’t have to agree with you. Does that make me judgmental? No. Does that mean I’m condemning you to hell? No. But name-calling and stereo-typing those of us who disagree with you as a bigot, homophobe, or intolerable is exactly what you don’t want done to you. I have a right to speak my opinion on the subject without being verbally attacked just as you have a right to speak yours without being attacked! *steps off soapbox*. Now that’s out of the way…..</span></div>
<a name='more'></a><span style="font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif'; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">Brendon Ayanbadejo, who was recently cut by the Baltimore Ravens, spoke out praising the organization for “laying the groundwork” for gay players to come out of the closet.<o:p></o:p></span>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif'; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">The Ravens terminated the linebacker’s contract Thursday. But the married father-of-2 praised the Ravens for supporting his <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">SELF-APPOINTED</b> role as the NFL spokesman for gay marriage.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif'; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">Ayanbadejo said the Ravens have laid the groundwork for as many as 4 active NFL players to come out of the closet. It is assumed that all 4 gay players are on the Ravens roster.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;"><span style="font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif'; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">“I think it will happen sooner than you think,” Ayanbadejo said. “We’re in talks with a handful of players who are considering it. There are up to four players being talked to right now and they’re trying to be organized so they can come out on the same day together. It would make a major splash and take the pressure off one guy. It would be a monumental day if a handful or a few guys come out.<o:p></o:p></span></i></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;"><span style="font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif'; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">“Of course, there would be backlash. If they could share the backlash, it would be more positive. It’s cool. It’s exciting. We’re in talks with a few guys who are considering it. The NFL and organizations are already being proactive and open if a player does it and if something negative happens. We’ll see what happens.”<o:p></o:p></span></i></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif'; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">I don’t know what his agenda is but he’s clearly engrossed in all this for some reason. I have a feeling that he may <s>be</s> know one of these 4 players. Either way does it really matter? Do we care to know the orientation of players or are they making a big deal out of this? <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>What do you think?</span></div>

<span style="color: #eeeeee; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #eeeeee; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Well ladies and gentlemen March Madness started last week and I didn't post my picks (shame on me). So I had to make sure I posted my picks for the Sweet 16 and beyond. College basketball fans wait every year for - the excitement - ,the upsets and Cinderella stories that make up the NCAA Men's Basketball tournament and there were a few in the first round but I don't see any taking place in this round. Well..#1 Kansas will fall and the stories of La Salle (#13) and Florida Gulf Coast (#15) has grasped our attention and some of those that like to root for the underdog are predicting upsets ....but not me. First of all the fact that #13 La Salle is playing a #9 seed Witchita State doesn't fascinate me. If La Salle win it isn't an upset to me. But whatever. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="color: #eeeeee; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I have highlighted the team I chose to win between the two. I have Syracuse, Ohio State, Kansas, and Louisville coming out of their Region and into the final four. </span><br />

<span style="color: #eeeeee; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Let's get it started (fist pump)!</span><br />

<span style="font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif'; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;"><span style="color: #cccccc;">Ron Washington is my uncle. Well he’s not <em>really</em> my uncle... but he reminds me of an uncle. The one that likes to laugh and all the kids like to hang onto his leg when he comes around because he gives them a dollar. He smokes his cigarettes and drinks his beer while telling jokes and keeping everyone around him smiling. But they respect him and when someone says ‘I’m going to tell your Uncle Ron”…you get some get right! He’s that uncle. And he has been that “uncle” for the Texas Rangers ball club.<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif'; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;"><span style="color: #cccccc;">Ron Washington is the most successful manager the Texas Rangers have ever had.<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>

The Rangers have won 279 games the past three seasons; only the New York Yankees has won more in the American League over that span.</span></span></div>
<span style="color: #cccccc;"><a name='more'></a></span><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">

<span style="font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif'; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;"><span style="color: #cccccc;">Never has a manager done so much and received so little credit. Either it goes to GM Jon Daniels, CEO Nolan Ryan, or to the players.<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>

<span style="font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif'; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;"><span style="color: #cccccc;">Any blame? Washington gets the bulk of that.<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif'; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;"><span style="color: #cccccc;">The manager is always going to get blamed when a team gets within one strike of a title and loses, which happened in 2011. Or when it's part of one of the worst collapses in MLB history, which is what happened last season (SMH….that memory is one of my saddest in DFW sport history moment behind Romo’s fumbled field goal snap versus Seattle in the 2007 playoffs, or the Mavericks versus Heat in the 2006 NBA Finals-ouch!).<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif'; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;"><span style="color: #cccccc;">Washington excels, in part, because he doesn't let minor stuff affect his approach. He doesn't care what you think about his decisions regarding the lineup. Or the bullpen. Or his approach to managing. He's his own man. And he'll never let anyone define him.<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif'; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;"><span style="color: #cccccc;">That's why every player on the roster knows who's in charge of the team -- and it’s not the general manager.<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>

<span style="font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif'; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;"><span style="color: #cccccc;">The players understand winning is all Washington cares about. So they trust him. The trust has been earned.<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>

<span style="font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif'; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;"><span style="color: #cccccc;">Washington has put his imprint on the way the Rangers play the game. They play with controlled recklessness, always putting pressure on their opponent. Pitching and defense are no longer an afterthought.<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif'; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;"><span style="color: #cccccc;">With the (major) players the team lost in the offseason some may count the Rangers out. <div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';">The trade deadline was pretty uneventful. Twenty-one players changed teams, and none were named Dwight Howard or Josh Smith. </span><span style="font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';">As a matter of fact, no full-time starters were dealt as teams have become more conservative with there moolah while adjusting to a highly restrictive new labor deal.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span style="font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';">The biggest deal of 2013 came three weeks before the trade deadline when Toronto received Rudy Gay from Memphis. But the season’s biggest deal came back in October, when Houston got James Harden from the Thunder. </span></div>

<a href="http://xfinity.comcast.net/blogs/tv/files/2013/02/joe-flacco-super-bowl1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" ea="true" src="http://xfinity.comcast.net/blogs/tv/files/2013/02/joe-flacco-super-bowl1.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif'; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;"><span style="color: #f3f3f3;">Quarterbacks have earned the title of “Super Bowl MVP” 25 times out of 46 games. Over the last 10 Super Bowls games played <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>the QB has won it 7 times ( Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Eli Manning (twice), Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers, and Joe Flacco), WR has won it 3 times (Deion Branch, Hines Ward,<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>and Santonio Holmes). <o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif'; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;"><span style="color: #f3f3f3;">The award almost always goes to the QB position. It’s not as if there aren’t other deserving players on that field. The thought is “ok so he caught 400 yards BUT the QB threw him the ball”. </span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif'; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;"><span style="color: #f3f3f3;">While it’s fair to argue no position is more important to a team’s success than Quarterback, it’s also fair to argue that voters have shown a bias and in some cases have blatantly disregarded other worthy candidates. </span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="color: #f3f3f3;">I’m not saying that Flacco didn’t play well, but he didn’t do anything extraordinary for the QB position. He didn’t do anything that we hadn’t seen in the Super Bowl before. He was regular and reliable. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif'; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;"><span style="color: #f3f3f3;">Wide receiver Jacoby Jones on the other hand…had a record night. <o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif'; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;"><span style="color: #f3f3f3;">Flacco finishes with 287 yards passing. The guy who perhaps should have won the award finished with three more.<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif'; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;"><span style="color: #f3f3f3;">Jacoby Jones had a Super Bowl-record 290 combined yards, via 56 receiving yards and 234 return yards, including the longest play and longest kickoff return in Super Bowl history (108 yards).<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif'; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;"><span style="color: #f3f3f3;">The two best plays of the game by either team were the Jones “oops you didn’t touch me” TD and the 108 yard kick return.<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif'; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;"><span style="color: #f3f3f3;">Both players had great games. There is a separating factor tho…Jacoby Jones is in the Super Bowl record books now..Flacco's not. I’m just saying.<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif'; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;"><span style="color: #f3f3f3;">As a matter of fact, I could even make a small case for Anquan Boldin, but I have to face is it... in a Super Bowl, the tie goes to the QB. That is just a fact.</span></span></div>
