Sorry Texas A&M, I'll Be Rooting for Alabama

Well I’m not really rooting for Alabama more than I am rooting against Texas A&M. Well technically, I’m not rooting against A&M, I’m rooting against Johnny Manziel Yea! That sounds better. I not going for Alabama…I just don’t want Johnny to win. My good ole Aggie friends will say that I am “hating” but I’m really not. . I can’t cheer for Alabama because as a Texan that could be treason lol. BUT thanks to the on- and off-field antics by Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel, I just might find myself saying "Roll Tide." #Ewww
This is what I call the “Lebron Effect”. Remember how so many people (not me) hated Lebron after he took his talents to South Beach?  That was not really for what he did, but for HOW he did it. He was seen as arrogant, selfish, “cocky”, and all the other synonyms in that cluster. He was the most hated person in sports just for how people perceived his attitude because most people want to see pride lose to humility. Which is why so many people were cheering for the Dallas Mavericks in 2011. Not because they liked them but because they disliked the Heat. Same thought process goes for my attitude towards Manziel. Everything he has done and said since the Heisman Trophy has affirmed Manziel's belief that he cannot be touched, that he is bigger than the university he represents, that he is even above NCAA rules. I’m not saying Alabama is a humble bunch but I’m paying attention to what’s in the news and it’s not them taunting their opponent mocking something just got a get out of jail free card for. After everything Manziel has gone through the last few weeks –– you'd think maybe just a smidge of humility might have been in order.

I’m also not saying I think a loss to Alabama tomorrow will humble old Johnny Football. It may bring him down a notch. Down to the notch that says you aren’t guaranteed anything. Your attitude determines your altitude. You better ask T.O and Ochocinco.

NCAA Tourney: My Picks (Sweet 16/Elite 8)

Well ladies and gentlemen March Madness started last week and I didn't post my picks (shame on me). So I had to make sure I posted my picks for the Sweet 16 and beyond. College basketball fans wait every year for - the excitement - ,the upsets and Cinderella stories that make up the NCAA Men's Basketball tournament and there were a few  in the first round but I don't see any taking place in this round. Well..#1 Kansas will fall and  the stories of La Salle (#13) and Florida Gulf Coast (#15) has grasped our attention and some of those that like to root for the underdog are predicting upsets ....but not me. First of all the fact that #13 La Salle is playing a #9 seed Witchita State doesn't fascinate me. If La Salle win it isn't an upset to me. But whatever.

I have highlighted the team  I chose to win between the two. I have Syracuse, Ohio State, Kansas, and Louisville coming out of their Region and into the final four.

Let's get it started (fist pump)!

Manti Te'o: The Story Gets Better....

FYI: You would have to read my blog blog post preceding this one to know all the characters mentioned below!
Further complicating the still-unfolding story is a report that an NFL player is insisting Teo's girlfriend is real. Reagan Mauia, an Arizona Cardinals fullback, said he believes Kekua exist because he met her in person when he and other Polynesian teammates and Pittsburgh Steelers star Troy Polamalu did charity work in June 2011.
"This was before her and Manti," Mauia said Wednesday evening. "I don't think Manti was even in the picture, but she and I became good friends. We would talk off and on, just checking up on each other kind of thing. I am close to her family. When she was going through the loss of her father, I was -- I offered a comforting shoulder and just someone to bounce her emotions off. That was just from meeting her in Samoa."
Mauia said Tuiasosopo (I mention who Tuiasosopo is here) -- whom Mauia believes is Kekua's cousin -- introduced the two. After the initial meeting, Mauia said he met her at an "after-party" for all of the athletes involved in the camp. "She was tall," he said. "Volleyball-type of physique. She was athletic, tall, beautiful. Long hair. Polynesian. She looked like a model ... " When reached by ESPN.com on Wednesday night, former University of Washington and NFL quarterback Marques Tuiasosopo acknowledged that he is a cousin of Ronaiah Tuiasosopo but said he never had met or heard of Kekua.
Mauia said it is his understanding that Kekua's mother is operating her Twitter account. He said he'd never met her mother. When told by a reporter that she apparently might not have existed, Mauia said: "No, she is real."
Wow!

Manti Te'o: Victim or Perpetrator In "Dead" Girlfriend Hoax?

If you're trying to make sense of the news that Notre Dame football star Manti Te'o now says he was the victim of a hoax and that the woman he thought was his "girlfriend" never existed and never died….good luck!

Notre Dame athletic director, Jack Swarbrick, put his neck on the line for football star Te’o in last night’s press conference and I hope he has prepared himself for the real truth that is bound to come out of this. Maybe he knows something we don’t know. But based on my research, Te’o is not a victim….he’s a liar. Wait…I take that back. He was misleading…that sounds better.

Notre Dame says a story about Manti Te'o's girlfriend dying, which he said inspired him to play better as he helped his team get to the BCS National Championship, turned out to be a hoax apparently perpetrated against the star linebacker. The school went as far as to hire an investigator (who paid for that?)!

There are so many inconsistencies and questions that Te’o must answer and my gut feeling tells me that when it comes down to that….Notre Dame will not like what they hear.

Lady Bears: 39 Down, 1 To Go

No. 1 Baylor (39-0) versus No. 1 Notre Dame(35-3)

Let me start by giving Baylor head coach and AP Coach of the Year, Kim Mulkey a shout out. . I loved her outfit on the sidelines on Sunday night! You go beauty!
Now that the important things are out of the way, let’s talk women’s bball …..
Even though the women’s college basketball tournament doesn’t create all the buzz and hype that the men’s tournament does… (for some) it’s still just as exciting! The thing about women’s basketball is…a #1 is a #1 and  a #16 is a #16. Upsets are few and far between and frankly….the games are slow. However, once it reaches the final four…I’m all in! So tonight we will crown the NCAA women’s basketball champion in Denver and determine who’s really number one.

It's Here! NCAA Men's BB Championship

No. 1 UK (37-2) versus No.2 KU (32-6)

March madness comes to an end tonight when the Wildcats go after the Jayhawks in the battle of heavyweights. Over the past few weeks the mayhem of March has brought us first round exits by #2 Duke and #2 Missouri (who I had in the Final Four). It gave us the “what will the do next” with VCU as they made another attempt at making history as a #15 seed. We saw a Final Four that consisted of only one #1 seed in Kentucky as #1’s Syracuse, North Carolina both fell in the Elite 8 and Michigan State was eliminated in the Sweet 16.

Brackets Shot, Busted, and Disgusted

SMDH.....to say that my bracket is busted would be an understatement. Although my picks did include upsets by #12 VCU over #5 Wichita St, #11 NC State over #6 San Diego St., #12 South Florida over #5 Temple, and #10 Purdue over #7 St. Mary's....those were not enough to keep my bracket afloat! I would love to meet the guy (or gal) that had both Duke AND Missouri losing as #2 seeds in their opening matchups! They have something "special" and I need to know when I'm going to get married, how many kids, and if I'll ever meet Beyonce and Micheal Jordan!

We saw NINE upsets over the past two days where double digit seeds defeated single digit seeds. Twitter was on fire with disbelieve. But this is what March mad(as hell)ness is all about. About the upsets and the teams who, before the tournament, the world paid no attention to. #15 LeHigh?? Nope didn't know them (I attended Lee High School tho!) but yet they put a permanent look of shock on the face of Coach K and the Duke Blue Devils. #15 Norfolk State??? Nope didn't know them either, but they eliminated the team I had coming out of the WEST and into the Final Four.

VCU is by far one of the best double digit seeds ever and they picked up were they left off from last year when they came into the tournament and stunned the basketball world by making it to the Final Four. In 2011, VCU's journey to the Final Four began in one of the four opening round games, commonly called "play-in" games, intended to narrow the field from 68 to 64 teams. They became the first team to advance from the "First Four" to the Final Four. I wouldn't take them lightly this year either.

I won't make another stab at who will make the final four. I still have North Carolina winning it all. If they go out any sooner my bracket will officially be retired!

NCAA Tourney Kickoff: My Picks

First round was qualifyng games only

Ladies and gentlemen it's about that time! The kickoff to March Madness officially begins today and The BOS has set her first round picks! Basketball fans wait every year for - the excitement - ,the upsets and Cinderella stories that make up the NCAA Men's Basketball tournament and there are many in the first round (according to me). I have highlighted my chosen upsets and the team I name first in the matchup is the team I chose to win between the two. I have UK, Ohio State (originally Syrc but with the lose of Fab Melo..smh ain't gon happen), Missouri, and UNC in the final four. I have UNC winning it all!

Let's get it started (fist pump)!
