It's Here! NCAA Men's BB Championship

No. 1 UK (37-2) versus No.2 KU (32-6)

March madness comes to an end tonight when the Wildcats go after the Jayhawks in the battle of heavyweights. Over the past few weeks the mayhem of March has brought us first round exits by #2 Duke and #2 Missouri (who I had in the Final Four). It gave us the “what will the do next” with VCU as they made another attempt at making history as a #15 seed. We saw a Final Four that consisted of only one #1 seed in Kentucky as #1’s Syracuse, North Carolina both fell in the Elite 8 and Michigan State was eliminated in the Sweet 16.

There will be an abundance of future NBA stars on the floor as the two winningest programs in men’s college basketball history take the court in The Big Easy to decide who’s numero uno. Kentucky is looking for their first national championship since 1998, while Kansas won their third championship in 2008 under Self. .  Kentucky has at least 5 players who will be playing in the NBA soon .Most are freshmen and sophomore (only 4 players are juniors or seniors)…..the best being  6’10 freshmen Anthony “The Unibrow” Davis.
Kentucky beat Kansas 75-65 back in November. Granted, it was only the second game of the season for both teams. The score was tied at 28 before the Wildcats put it away.  The young cats are feeling themselves and they are playing great team ball. UK plays great defense and if you know me, you know I am a “defense wins games” kind of gal! If KU center Jeff Withey he can stay on the court and out of foul trouble, he MIGHT be able to slow down Anthony Davis…..but there are still 4 other UK players on the court that can hurt ‘em .
So what do you do?
Keep it close and make it a mental. If Kansas wants an honest shot at winning they are going to have to frustrate the youngsters and get them off their game. We all saw how the “old” Dallas Mavericks were able to defeat the “young” Miami Heat last year in the NBA championship….poise and pure fundamentals.
My prediction: Kentucky wins
